| Title | Base features of electron cooling systems for NICA collider |
| Authors |
|
| Abstract | The project NICA (Nuclotron-based Ion Collider fAcility) aims to provide colliding beams for studying heavy ion collisions in the energy range 1-4.5 GeV/u. Obtaining maximum luminosity of the collider requires powerful longitudinal and transverse cooling at collision energy. That will be achieved with usage of both stochastic and electron cooling. The 2.5 MeV electron cooling system (ECS) includes two coolers, which cool ion beams in both rings simultaneously. The Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics (BINP SB RAS) already built and commissioned the electron cooling system for the NICA Booster with a maximum energy of 50 keV and now it develops the high voltage electron cooling system for the collider. This article describes the status of the ECS development. |
