| Abstract | Particle accelerators are costly, complex machines. Modern light sources in particular cannot reach design performance without a dedicated software stack for commissioning and tuning, validated during design and construction using Monte-Carlo studies and digital twins. As both the software and the twins grow in scope, architecture matters. We review representative tool stacks, extract recurring design patterns, and show how treating the system as interactions over a large shared state leads to simpler, more consistent implementations of commissioning tools and digital-twin workflows. |
