Abstract European Spallation Source (ESS) organization has selected cutting-edge technologies to satisfy performance and scalability expectations: - Micro Telecommunications Computing Architecture (MTCA). - Micro Research Finland (MRF) based timing system with delay compensation. - Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System (EPICS). To achieve optimal data acquisition quality, the control system is built on top of the timing system which gives the same absolute time reference to all EPICS process variables (PVs). The MTCA system gives configurable cableless access to manage connections among different electronic mezzanine cards, therefore reducing installation workload.
