Abstract In the SuperKEKB and future International Linear Collider project, it is required to measure and control an offset of very small beams with a precision of several nanometers at the interaction point. This paper is a feasibility study on measuring and controlling nano-order relative position by using a laser interferometer and a piezoelectric stage. The first part shows that the precision of measurement position about a direction of laser radiation is less than or equal to 1 nanometer in frequency region less than 100Hz. The second part is discussed a measurement of relative displacement between two points which are 10 meter away on substructures located at the interaction point in the SuperKEKB. To compare with difference of accelerometers for reference, a relative displacement measurement with a precision of several nanometers by a laser interferometer became clear. The final part is discussed a relative positioning control by using a Piezo-Stage between two points on active vibration isolation tables. We achieved to control a relative displacement below 2 nanometers in frequency region less than 10Hz.
