Abstract As a high-power heavy ion accelerator facility, FRIB (Facility for Rare Isotope Beams) has its specific requirement for its online tuning purpose. Existing simulation code either can not provide all needed functions, or is slow for the online purpose. A new thin lens model (TLM) code is under active developing to address above issues. Specifically, it uses multipole expansion scheme to model non-axisymmetric RF cavities like quarter-wave resonators (QWRs) and half-wave resonators (HWRs), and calculate beam dynamics influence coming from dipole components and quadrupole components. A special data structure is also designed to handle multi-charge state acceleration using divide-and-conquer scheme. TLM also contains all other beam element models, such as solenoid, quadrupole, bending magnet, stripper, corrector and diagnostic device. Based on envelope tracking scheme, TLM is able to run within hundreds of milliseconds, while keeping high precision (1% RMS error) with other multiple particle tracking code used at FRIB like IMPACT-Z. In this paper, we present our latest status for the TLM model development.
